The Mini is a good device, though I gave mine up in favor of an iPad Air. But it will never work for me as my normal reading device. The backlit screen does nothing good for my eyes.

Last year I gave up my Kindle Paperwhite in favor of a Kobo (at first a Libra 2, then a Clara B&W, because it's smaller). E-ink screens are much easier on my eyes). I'm happy to be out from under Amazon's thumb.
